Sound Card. while re-installing windows me,the sound from my computer has gone.May be the sound

while re-installing windows me,the sound from my computer has gone.May be the sound card is not working. Do I have to run the driver of the sound card?If yes, then how can i recognise that my system has which sound card and how to get its driver.Plz. help.
