Sound Noise Using HDMI Cable

Question

When I use a Sony or Toshiba up-convert DVD recorder/player with my 32-inch Olevia LCD tv, I get sound noise from the HDMI cable. To fix the problem, I use the remote on the recorders to go from 480P to 720P to 1080I and no more noise.

Is there another fix for this?

In addition, I have tried several brands of HDMI cable.

The Olevia tv is two years old.
