Sound/Video delay

Question

I've recently had problems with a sound/video delay. There seems to be a lip sync error happening on both TV and DVDs where the video is behind the sound. I've checked the speaker set-up and changed the surround mode - no luck. What causes a delay? Any advice?Thanks!
