Sound card giving me problems?

For what ever reason, the sound doesn't work on my PC. When it is starting and the background has come up, it wants me to install PCI which I'm assuming is something to do with the sound card. I downloaded the compatible drivers, but when I use them it says there is no sound card in my PC. There is. It asks me to load the CD that came with the sound card - I can't do this as it is the standard sound card that came with the PC and they don't give you the disc for it. Can I download this from anywhere on the net?

I am using a Dell and the sound card is Creative. At the moment the PC isn't online, but it can be if I take it downstairs - not wireless on the PC. If I do hook it up to the net, will the PC be able to find what is missing and I can download it?

My pc did this a few years back for no reason what so ever my sound card driver just dropped dead. i was so wound up cos i love listening to music on this when I'm surfing or whatever!

I then had to find out the make and model of my sound card driver, go on line and find it and reinstall it! since then every time ive reformatted ive had to do the same thing, only this time i actually stored the driver in a file section on one of my yahoo groups lol - at least its easy to get to tho and i dont have to hunt for it everytime i need it!

go to www.download.com and try the drivers section there they have quite a few - i have a creative sound card driver too and I'm sure i got it from their website you just need to make sure you have the right one, you may need to actually take the cover off your pc to find it if its written on the driver itself.

You will be able to find it, it just might take some time to hunt the driver down!!

Run the CD.. 'Drivers and Utities' that came with your computer, this is what its asking for. If you havent got one will have to download the driver from your computer website 'support'

You run the CD directly after re-installing
