Question:

Sound coming out of just one speaker in my car. What could the problem be?

I purchased a JVC ipod adaptor today and removed my JVC KD-AVX2 unit from my car to put it in but when I put everything back together and turned on my set sound was only coming out from the front left speaker.

I have checked behind the set and everything looks connected. I know for a fact I couldn't have blown any speakers. What could the problem be?

I was also told today that I need an signal splitter in order to make my fm radio work again and somebody else told me I need an aerial amplifier. I am confused now... what do I actually need to get my fm working on my JVC set.

Help will be appreciated greatly. Thanks

  1. Did you install the adaptor in the right connection ie the cd changer input socket on the rear of the radio?

Make sure you have fully pushed the iso connections in correctly untill the click in position, Then when connected Use a pen or object and press the reset button on the front so the radio can learn newly fitted items etc.

Also did you purchase the jvc ipod adaptor ks-pd100 or ks-pd500 as if you fitted a aftermarket product this would damage the unit.

    see insturctions online:

    http://uk.jvc-service.net/public/documen...

    page 144 shows ipod connections.

  2. Could be that you have a power problem. No power is getting to the speaker or it could be the wiring could be a break in the wire. Or it could just be that the speaker is damaged.

  3. Your settings on the deck might be off. Find the Balance and Fader, and make sure they are at 0, because you might have the sound on just one speaker (ex, front right). If that doesn't fix it, then it is a wiring issue. If your speakers are easy to take out of the car, I would do that and then plug them into a home theater system or receiver in your house to see if it has sound. If it doesn't then your speaker is blown, but if you have sound then your wiring on your car stereo is off. Make sure the connections are sealed and NOT touching any other metal wires.

  4. your speaker is broken!lol

  5. If it were me I would go back to the start, remove anything you fitted and go back to how things were yesterday. Now check to see if speakers work, if not it will be a wiring connection that has come loose. No problem going further until you have solved that.

If you didn't need an amplifier before then there is no reason you will need one now.
