Sound equipment for video production?

Me and some friends recently decided to start making videos and clips for our church, and are starting to buy all the equipment nesecarry, but what we can't figure out is: How does Hollywood get such amazing audio quality on reality tv shows, interviews, etc.? and also, where can we get equipment like that? Money is not tight, but we want the best quality for the cheapest price.

Really great microphones, professional audio engineers, and audio editing equipment.  Talk to the sound guys at video production houses, or recording companies.  They'll be able to give you some great 'pro-sumer' suggestions.
