Question:

Sound like I got the job?

I interviewed for a position a few weeks ago for a position as an administrative assistant at a real estate agency. He told me I'd hear back in a week and I didn't hear anything. So I just forgot about it and moved on. Then today he called me and I missed his call. So I called him back and this is what he said: "well it took a few weeks to make my selection, are you still looking for a job? (i said yes), ok so what are you looking to be paid, I know on the posting it said x amount (I said that amount is fine), ok so could you come by at 9am tomorrow so we can discuss this more? (and I accepted)" And that was pretty much it. Sorry if it is confusing lol. So does that sound like I got the job? Everyone I asked is telling me to not get my hopes up, but I just want some honest opinions. Thanks!

  1. It does sound promising.   often, employers ( for want of a better word) just s***w around in making a decision.

Having been through this myself, you don;t have a job until they specifically ask,"  when can you start?" and make a $$ offer.

  2. sounds very promising... suggest you find out a little more about compensation so that you can negotiate what you want, or at least be sure of what you're getting  (unless you're really already thrilled about taking their first offer).  A little office may have little or no benefits to offer, so slightly higher salary is appropriate.

  3. Sure sounds promising.  Good luck!

  4. Sounds promising, also sounds like they did not get as many applicants/the quality of applicants were lower than they were expecting which may be why they took so long.

    Good luck though

  5. Although it sounds like you got the job but what I don't understand is that why are asking you to go down and discuss more. If they want you, they can offer the job to you by phone and tell you all the details.Afterall, you already went for an interview.

  6. Yep to me it sounds like you got the job !!!  They might need to see you again in person and ask you a little bit more questions, etc but I'm sure that you got the job.

I was interviewed for an Office Coordinator Position in a Real Estate company too a couple of weeks ago and the same thing happened .. they weren't quick enough so I took another job as a Bilingual CSR and suddenly I get a call from the owner wanting to see me again and asked if I was still interested and that he would like to talk to me a bit more in person.  I accepted .. met with the owner talked for a while about the business, answered some questions too and here I am .. I got the job !! I just started monday! =o)

So, to me it sounds like you got it !!

    =o)
