Sound on laptop still not working.....?

hi, my sound on my laptop has not been working for over 6 months now, i have tried everything pertaining to wiping the hard drive, to reinstalling the sound drivers, to downloading new software etc, and still it doesnot work,now i think that this issue has to do w/m speakers is there anyway i can be completely sure that its my computer speakers that has failed to work, that's why i am experiencing this problem, i am really lost w/out my sound on my laptop, i still get a loud click everytime i load windows, and whenever the computer goes in stand by mode i will hear that loud clicking sound, but that's about it, i cannot hear anything else, so if anyone can pls help with this problem, thanks so much!

Have you tried with a different pair of speakers?

Load a music CD or an MP3 and play it. If it plays but no sound is coming out of speakers - try headphones jack, if you do get sound from headphones that means your speakers are shot. If there is no sound on headphones either - its time to change the soundcard.
