Sound stopped working on my computer?

Hi everyone I asked this question a couple days ago and only 2 people answered and neither was helpful. I checked all my audio cable connections and they are all plugged in fine. The speakers are on my monitor. I tried to update my sound card but it was already up to date. NOTHING IS MUTED AT ALL. When the sound stopped working my sister was on and she said first WMP stopped working but other things were fine like Youtube. Then all sound from my computer just stopped working she said. Can someone tell me what I can do PLEASE AND THANKS.

Your speakers on your computer may be shot.  Or your Sound card is shot.  First I would try new speakers if they don't work more than likely your sound card is shot.  If you know what your doing you may want to put a new sound card in.  If you don't have a clue what you are doing you might want to take it in or just face it and buy a new CPU.

You could try a driver rollback? Downgrading to the previous update that worked. Try searching "(name of your soundcard) driver rollback". Its worth a try.
