Question:

Soundproofing A Room

What are some effective methods for soundproofing an apartment? I would like it to suffocate some if not all of the noise. It would mainly be playing music and movies. I dont mind buying padding, but I have to cover two big walls and a door. But I am open to some alternatives.

Thanks.

  1. Maybe using cork tiles would be effective.  Not too expensive, and installation would be easy enough.  And they'd look good too.

  2. use cup holders, like the coffee ones you get at mcdonalds or timhortans,  those work, because the sound is an echo   it movie thru tha wall,  so if you have the cup holders on tha wall it will just bounce back :)

  3. Lot's of different kinds of insulation would do the trick, especially if you're not worried about losing a couple inches around the perimeter of your apartment.

I would advise the spray on foam that puffs up after you put it on.

Another thing, ask your landlord if you can do it before you go ahead, especially if you're not planning to live there forever.
