I know that sounds messed up to cancel a committed donation but i just can't afford it anymore. I thought i could handle sponsoring 2 children but i can't even afford paying for my own expenses. Does any one know how to cancel the donation?

  1. praying to God is always a good start.

  2. god doesn't have money so.......now about your question.....it's wrong to do what you just did.....get a job/better job

  3. I know what a hard decision this must be for you but sometimes we are faced with a situation that is unavoidable.

Your first step would be to contact the organization to let them know your circumstances. If you have been using an EFT to transfer funds directly from your bank, there is generally a phone number on your bank statement to call, at the same time notify your bank in writing that you no longer want this donation removed from your account.

If this donation is made from your paycheck contact human resources at your employment to stop the withdrawal.

If the donation is made via a credit card contact the credit card company to refuse payment. In some cases when done with a credit card you will have to stop th charity from billing your account and that can be harder than you would expect. Once when I was dealing with an company, they continued to bill me for service long after I had closed the account. I was forced to close the credit card and tranfer my balance to a new card.

You can't help anyone if you end up homeless yourself. God bless you for what you have done and bless your future as well. There are many who would not have done what you have done thus far.

  4. Situations change. The cost of gas & groceries are going up - did any of you get a 50% pay raise this year? So it's ok to stop sponsoring someone, no matter how much we'd like to continue.

Your help was for a season, and that season is over. God will find someone else to stand in the gap, so do NOT feel guilty.

As to your question, call the organization and let them know that you're sorry, but you need them to cancel the automatic debits to your account. They might handle it over the phone and you're done. If they tell you that they need your request in writing, then put it in writing. Done.

Thank you for caring. I'm sure when the situation changes again, you'll help out again. Am I right?
