Hello.. I'm hosting a murder mystery party based on a steam train in the 1920's. I'm after station noises ( whistles flag men etc ) plus the sounds of a steam train ( as if in a carriage on a jouney ). Been to the library and no joy. any help appreciated.

  1. Well now, buy a cheap video or dvd and edit all the sounds

    you want!  Easy-peasy!

  2. There is a chat forum for rail staff which is visited a lot by enthusiasts as well as staff.  Register with the site then ask the same question, most of them on there are very helpful and if they can help you they certainly will.

    www.railchat.co.uk

  3. Argo Transacord made numerous recordings of railway sounds. I've just done a quick search and there are quite a number offered for sale on ebay.

  4. Saw a CD of train sound efects in the local library (Springfield, Kent)

Try asking your library and searching their catalogue of CDs.

Most libraries also do inter-loans so they can probably borrow it for you. :)

  5. Try http://www.soundeffectsvault.com  They have a CD of sound effects entitled "Transport".

  6. Try model railroad websites, they have this stuff for sound effects for their sets..
