I'm trying to get my son to stop sucking his thumb. I've heard of putting some sort of sour spray on his thumb-does anyone know where I can find this stuff? In the candy section or what?

  1. Sour sprays would be with the candy, but you probably have stuff at home you can try as well.  I would suggest trying garlic (just the powder rubbed on fingers will flavor them enough), vinegar, lemon juice, or at his age maybe even pickle juice (dill not sweet).  You may have to try a few before you find one that works. Good Luck!

  2. My parent used hot sauce on me when i was little, but I'm not going to make my daughter stop until she is 4 same with my other daughter that has her Binky

You can always get the sour candy sprays I think there Sour Heads they come in this little spray bottle

    But good luck!

  3. Yes they sell it usually upfront with the candy bars, but I will warn you it doesn't work with most children! If your son is like my daughters, he will like it and want more!

  4. There is something called Mavala- Stop. Its in a small red/gold/white box. I ordered mine online. It can be used for thumb sucking and nail biting. It works for my 4 year olds nail biting habit but make sure you reapply it after washing hands. Give it a whirl!

  5. I hope that you really don't want to punish your baby with some unknown product.  Your child is still an infant, and like all children your baby will grow out of this soon enough and drive you nuts with something else. Is there a reason why your baby is sucking his thumb? What is your baby replacing? Thumb sucking is a baby's way to soothe himself; have you tried to distract your baby with a blanket, binky, toy, playing with him or maybe even carrying him.

I hope you will reconsider putting anything on your child thumb; why not take as many baby pictures of this experience as you can and enjoy the moment...really infancy ends at 7 years old than you will be grooming a tween.

  6. My parents used clove oil.  It's pretty nasty.

  7. i would just try some vinegar.

it will not taste good, and you know it's not full of artificial chemicals

try keeping him busy too. get him to do a jigsaw or something that involves using his hands.

bike riding is a good one!

  8. thats not going to work you need to use HOT SAUCE for that how old is he?
