Sourav Ganguly May Get a Chance to Be a Part of Knight Riders
Shah Rukh Khan, the co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has hinted of having the former skipper of the team Sourav Ganguly on board. Since the leading batsman and a potential bowler, Ganguly, was completely ignored by all the franchises during the IPL
auction, there are chances that his old team might assign him a different role this time.
The 38-year old former skipper of India’s national cricket team was embarrassed at being completely ignored at the auction and he left the place red-faced in disappointment. While expressing his anguish, after the auction, Ganguly said, “I don’t know what
happened. It’s up to the teams to decide on the players but I didn’t expect to go unsold. It’s hard to believe that I don’t figure among the 100-odd cricketers.”
Neglecting the former cricketing star was a move which left his fans angry, and in an outrage, while protesting, they burnt Shah Rukh Khan’s effigies in Kolkata. However, understanding the demands of the fans of the Kolkata based cricketer, Shah Rukh http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319
has resorted to damage control and has hinted the chances of giving Ganguly some role in the team.
While sharing his views on telephone on a television channel over the issue, Shah Rukh said, “He (Sourav Ganguly) is an integral part of the team. It is difficult to think of having a team in Kolkata without him. I have spoken to Sourav over phone. We will
try to use him in a different capacity.”
However, the co-owner of the franchise did not give any clue about why they did not choose to pick up the player during the auction. He was of the view that it was not necessary to comment on this aspect. As there were ten different teams, there were ten
different think tanks which had to take final decision about the players. Since there were many permutations and combinations which had to be considered by the selectors, it was difficult to say why Ganguly was ignored at the first place.
According to the news, Ganguly may end up getting an offer of a managerial role in the team as talks between him and the Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders’ CEO Venky Mysore are already under way over having him as the team manager.
