Former Indian skipper, Souruv Ganguly, believes that the batting icon, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, can make the opening Test against England, a memorable one, as it will come with a chance for him to complete his career’s 100th International century.
"I am not surprised http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 has not scored a hundred here. But I just feel that this could be 'his' Test match. He is destiny's child," said former Indian cricketer.
Tendulkar, who is holding the record of hitting the most centuries in Tests as well in One-Day Internationals, has never hit even a fifty at Lord’s.
The veteran was reportedly practicing for two hours a day for the last two weeks, for the Test series against the English.
Having played 177 Test matches during his cricketing career, the right-handed batsman has scored 14692 runs, including 51 centuries and 59 fifties. In addition, he has hit 48 centuries, while batting in 453 ODI matches.
"Irrespective of the fact that he became a superstar one year after he made his debut, he has stayed the same over the last 20-21 years,” asserted Ganguly, who is the only Indian batsman to hit a century at Lord’s in the past Twenty20 years.
Former Indian bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajit-Agarkar-c972, had scored a Test century in the year 2002.
Tendulkar is considered as one of the most complete batsmen in the world. His talent is not only appreciated by his own teammates but also by the opponents as well. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 also believes that Tendulkar has been the best Test cricketer off all time.
“For him to go on for so long and maintain his incredibly high standards is a great testament of the man and the desire of his outrageous talent as well,” said Strauss.
The hype of hitting his 100th ton in the Test match at Lord’s would have put Tendulkar under pressure, but the batsman revealed that he was not thinking of making records, he just wanted to enjoy the tour and give his best.
