A huge number of fans gathered outside the residence of Ganguly in Behala, Kolkata, to express their love for the Indian Cricket Guru.
The left–handed batting master was born on July 8, 1972, in Kolkata, Bengal, and made his first class debut in 1989-90 at the age of 18 years.

Many analysts thought that Ganguly could play more, but the mighty batsman and captain wanted to end his career at its might.

On his birthday yesterday, the cricket idol took out time from his busy shooting schedule, especially to cut the birthday cake with his wife Dona Ganguly in the presence of print media.
His face-book fan page members also wished him his special day and arranged a meeting with him in a local studio.
One of the club members said, "We have fixed an appointment with him through a private agency. We will give him flowers and gifts besides cutting the cake."
Ganguly had turned 39 and given 18 years of his life to the cricket. Commonly called “Dada”, he has had a tremendous career and batting was his strength.
The left-handed opener scored 7212 runs in the 113 Test matches he played in his career, with a highest total of 239 runs.
The legendary batsman has 11363 ODI runs to his credit with a highest total of 183 runs. Bengal’s lad has impressive batting averages of 42.17 and 41.02 in the Test and ODI formats respectively.
The Bengali cricketer also tried his hand at bowling and showed fine performances. He has 100 ODI wickets to his credit with an average of 38.49.
Besides hosting a programme, Ganguly’s latest plans include flying to England for the television commentary of the upcoming http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 series, scheduled to begin from July 15.
