Sourav Ganguly demands extensive changes in the Indian team - Cricket News Update
The former Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746, on Saturday took a dig at the Indian cricket team after the side fell to its second successive Test series whitewash abroad by losing the fourth and final Test against Australia at Adelaide, calling for extensive
changes in the current set-up.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 lost the match by 298-runs at the Adelaide Oval yesterday. It handed them their eight successive Test defeat overseas, but in the process endured a second whitewash in a four match Test series in 6 months.
Given the run of poor performances from a formidable Indian line-up, Ganguly said that some sweeping changes are inevitable.
"If the team keeps losing like this, changes are inevitable," said Ganguly who is in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 these days performing commentating duties.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, to lead by example to boost the morale of the side and give the selectors a reason to retain him as the captain.
"Dhoni will have to raise his game to remain captain of the team. If the captain surrenders, the team often falls apart."
India’s losing streaking started last year in July, when they lost to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Test rankings.
Ganguly further added that there were situations when the Indians had an upper hand and had the tourists capitalised on those chances, the results would have been different. Ganguly thought that his compatriots should have won the series opener at Melbourne
last month.
"If the Indian team had performed better in Melbourne and perhaps have won the match the result of the series could have been different," said Ganguly in an interview with an Indian TV channel.
The former Indian batsman also took a dig on the Indian coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Duncan-Andrew-Gwynne-Fletcher-c54742 and said that after a series of dismal performances over the past six months, the Zimbabwean would have to give results in the next six months or else the BCCI should decide his
fate.
