Sourav Ganguly praises Ricky Ponting – Cricket News Update
The former Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. Ganguly stated that he always knew that the former Australian captain would regain his form sooner rather
than later.
Ponting is counted amongst the greats of the modern era along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Charles-Lara-c48471. In his distinguished career, Ponting has single-handedly won Australia many matches, through his batting displays.
Apart from his batting skills, Ponting is also one of the most successful Australian captains. Under his captaincy the Kangaroos won back to back World Cups, first in 2003 and then again in 2007. He kept the Aussie side at the top of international rankings
of the International Cricket Council for a long period of time as well.
In recent years Ponting had been struggling for runs, but as the old adage goes ‘form is temporary but class is permanent’, the former Australian captain played himself back to form. He scored a magnificent hundred under trying circumstances in the Sydney
Test and followed it up by a double century in the Adelaide Test.
Ganguly feels that every cricketer in his career goes through a lean patch, but great players come out firing, as did Ponting. He also blamed the Indian bowling performances on the current tour.
The former Indian skipper said, “He’s been phenomenal. Ricky’s an all-time great and I’ve been happy to see him score. I know he’d been under pressure before the Boxing Day Test, but that’s bound to happen at some stage in your career. It’s part of sport.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ricardo-Gouveia-c84824 rose to the challenge like any great would. His feet move so well, front and back, and his balance has been so good in this series. At the same time, we haven’t bowled well to him.”
Sourav is extremely unhappy with the showings of the Indian team in the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 so far.
“It has become tough commentating. What do I keep saying on the TV? The mildest word I can use for our performance is disappointing,” he added.
Australia is playing the fourth and final Test match of the series at the Adelaide Oval.
