Sourav Kothari beats Laxman Rawat to claim 2012 All India Open Invitation Snooker Tournament title
After putting up an excellent snooker display at the Khar Gymkhana baize, the in-form Sourav Kothari was able to defeat the Indian National Junior number one, Laxman Rawat by the score line of 6-2 in an easy final encounter of the 2012 Shyam Shroff Memorial

The clash was expected to be a tussling game because bother potters showed great determination in the national snooker event and had the spark to unsettle each other. However, the match did not go the way it was presumed but the spectators present at the
venue did enjoy some terrific snooker show at the baize. Kothari dominated the game from the start and pushed his opponent two frames down at the end of the first session and repeated the same score line in the second session to claim the title.
The first session of the game seemed tussling but Kothari made it look easy for him as he cruised into one frame lead at 1-0 hitting the first frame victory by 83-33. Rawat had no chance to capitalise against Kothari and tumbled down. Another frame win by
the score line of 66-17 brought Kothari two frames up at 2-0. Rawat could add only one point to his side of the score-board while Kothari swept the table instantly with 75 score line.
Rawat bounced back into the game during the fourth frame and pocketed his first frame victory by the score line of 31-88 after pocketing a superb knock of 62 to take the score line of 3-1. The second session of the match started with another classy break
from Kothari as he potted a superb half century clearance of 54 to win the fifth frame 96-8 and move one frame up at 4-1.
The sixth frame proceeded the same way as Kothari claimed it by the score line of 113-8 after smashing a fine compilation of 65 points. At 5-1 down, Rawat was under immense pressure and had to get out of it as soon as possible. He won the seventh frame by
58-56 after a close fight with Kothari. However, it was not enough from him as the ONGC potter Kothari hit another frame win by 56-55 to lift the event title by 6-2.
