Sourav Kothari ousts Noppon Saengkham to enter final of 2012 ASCA International Snooker Championship
Final proceedings of the Kences Constructions 2012 ASCA International Snooker Championship started with the commencement of the quarter-final stage where top guns of the event performed tremendously to qualify for the penultimate stage of the tournament.
The semi-final stage is of course featuring the toughest clashes among the top four potters.
In one of the semi-finals, India’s Sourav Kothari, who is one of the most experienced and a major contender of the title, faced Thai potter Noppon Saengkham who performed impressively in the initial stages of the event. The match up was a piece of cake for
the Indian cueman because he made it look like an easy win for him as he ousted his Thai opponent by the score line of 5-1.
The best-of-nine frame was expected to be a tough game but Kothari had some other plans in mind. He grabbed the control of the game from the start after he was 0-1 down and kept it until the finish of the match to unsettle his opponent and book his place
in the final encounter.
Kothari lost the opening frame to Saengkham by the score line of 57-68 which put him under a lot of pressure but the Indian potter did not lose his focus and came back strong in the next frame with a tremendous break of 55 to win the frame by 93-31 and pull
level at 1-1.
After that he did not let Saengkham spring back into the game and won four consecutive sets by 118-1, 95-16, 109-11, 77-7 pocketing scintillating knocks of 60, 57, 65, 57, 49 and 71. He will face the winner of second semi-final clash between Kamal Chawla
