1. It is his personal view.

He thinks that age does not matter.

Hope so he will prove this by playing good crick. in forth coming matches.

Castrol Awards: The lights dimmed and Sourav Ganguly flickered on the screen. Ganguly spoke about “being honoured to win the award” and faded out on perhaps one of the brightest days of his life.

Ganguly won the inaugural Castrol Asian Cricketer of the Year award for the year 2007 and also bagged the overall award for batting but he could not attend the function.

Sourav Ganguly has been named the Castrol Asian Cricketer of the Year at the awards handed out in Karachi. Ganguly, won the best overall batsman prize for his outstanding performances in 2007. He was the highest Asian run-getter in Tests in 2007, with 1106 runs, including a career-best 239 not out against Pakistan, besides scoring 1240 runs in ODIs.

The awards are based on the Castrol Performance Index - a comprehensive points system which takes into consideration batting, bowling and fielding performances of each player against all teams in all international matches, in all three formats - Tests, ODIs and Tweny20s, during a calendar year.

  5. He dosen't need to retire... He will make a comeback into the ODI team and perform really really well!! Then only he can retire!! I think he should keep on playing till the World Cup and make the world cup his last tournament before his retirement

  6. Fist of all, I thought that under such adverse circumstances the best thing to do for Sourav dada is to announce retirement from ODI cricket. But now, it feels great to hear that he has still managed to keep up his spirit in such hard times. I find this aspect of Sourav most outstanding. Even in the toughest of situations, he never gives up hope. A fighter always, this statement made shows that the adversities still hasn't been able to seize "the fire" from within the tiger.

During the Greg Chapell episode, it seemed that a comeback was impossible for dada. But he made it possible. So, perhaps, making a comeback in the ODI team now, is even a greater challenge for him, but it's not impossible. Afterall, where there is a will there is a way! It's never the end of the road if one is willing to walk furthur. He is always strong in the belief that he can do it, and he wants the world to know that he knew that he can do it. Sourav dada is almost like inspiration personified to me. But he really needs to concentrate entirely on his game, and work very hard to prove to the world again that he still has something left in him.

  7. he must stay

  8. He should retire gracefully or the selector must one day say enough is enough. Your time is up, buddy. Until the selector say that Ganguly will never give up hope. He should get kicked out of test team too.

  9. When BCCI did not chose Sourav for the ODI, he was at his best, scoring more than anyone. Not one critic condemned him then. He can still play well. If he has the confidence, then BCCI should allow him to prove a point.

Just like Ganguly has denied this, Sehwag had denied the fact that he was 'unfit' to be chosen in ODI in Australia.

Fans are not fools. All know who is behind all this.

  10. he would never retire from odi

  11. yep i too think he still can play~

  12. It is more or less sure that he will not be picket up in the Indian ODI side. Hence as a self-respecting person he should retire on his own.
