Question:

Source of Quote regarding missing someone (which Philosopher/Author?)?

can't remember the language used or how it is exactly said, but I remember the idea was: When you miss someone, could be a loved or or someone you have an infatuation with, you're not really missing them, but you're really missing the kind of person -- or the version of you -- that you would have been if they were still around.

I majored in Philosophy, heard this in one of my classes many years ago and I can't remember who said it or how it goes exactly.

Can anyone help?
