Source say blockbuster trade will possibly affect Tampa Bay Rays future – MLB Update
According to experts and some inside sources, the recent mega trade between with the Toronto Blue Jays and Miami Marlins could affect the Tampa Bay Rays in the recent future.
Along with many other reasons, there are couple-of direct concerns which possibly will make things difficult for the Rays in the American League East.
The Rays were trying hard for past several years to build a new stadium nearby as already Miami Marlins have built their own new straight of the art stadium.
Marlins collected majority of finances from the tax payers accounts while this recent trade with the Blue Jays made many of their fans furious regarding many principles.
Last year, the Marlins added expensive free agents just to attract more fans but now several players have traded to Blue Jays to lessen most of the fans interest in the team as well.
These measures are now making things more difficult for the Tampa Bay Rays whose case regarding building a new stadium in the area might not get much support.
“I would look at it this way, there's always going to be detractors. So any time there is any ammunition given to detractors, I think that they will latch on to it, and I think this is one, If you're trying to sway opinion, you can easily hold up the Marlins situation and say,” Maury Brown, an author at Baseball Prospectus and founder of The Biz of Baseball, explained the situation.
Later Hillsborough County commissioner Ken Hagan also said, “There's no question that perception exists and in many cases it's reality, However, I'll say you don't have to look any further than (Rays owner Stuart) Sternberg and (Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff) Vinik in our community to see that is not always the case."
According to some other experts, other Bay area teams are also raising their concerns regarding the new development after Miami and Blue Jays trade.
Both teams took a bold step and initiated this deal which shocked many. Miami Marlins sent their top three players to Blue Jays and received several Minor League players.
