Sources say Torii Hunter wants to play with Detroit Tigers – MLB Update
Different sources are speculating in the media that they have certain information about free agent Torii Hunter and his potential future franchise.
These sources agree to a recent report that says Hunter’s desire is to play with the Detroit Tigers.
Hunter, who finished this past Major League Baseball season with the Los Angeles Angels, filed for the free agency as the World Series ended.
Earlier news came out in the media that Hunter will be re-signed by the Angels but later it was revealed that the Angels' management is not certain to give him another high-priced deal due to their internal cost cutting issues. However, Torii or Tigers have not made any comments in the media officially about this developing story.
Meanwhile, the New York Yankees are also showing their interest to sign the 15-year Major League Baseball veteran. Yankees' veteran and star Mark Teixeira has expressed his desire for Hunter coming to the team.
“I love Torii, He doesn’t make our team younger, but he does make it a little bit more balanced. You have a right-handed hitting outfielder, a guy that can steal bases [who is] still a very productive player," Yankees' Mark Teixeira said of his ex-teammate from the second half of the 2008 season in Anaheim.
He added, "We have a bunch of older guys, but in certain times that experience really helps, We’ve had a, quote, old team for all four years I’ve been here, but we’ve had an amazing run for anybody but the Yankees, There isn’t anybody in our clubhouse that is happy about what happened the last three years, because we didn’t win the World Series."
This is an interesting development regarding Hunter, who finished 2012 Major League campaign hitting with an average of .313, along with 16 homers, 92 RBIs and .365 OBP.
After coming into the big league, Hunter joined the Minnesota Twins as his first major team. Later he was traded to the Angels in 2008 and since then he has been playing with them consistency.
The next few weeks will be critical when Hunter will decide on his potential future franchise.
