Warriors 320 & 211 v Cape Cobras 239 & 20/0 (4.0 ov) - Cobras require another 273 runs with 10 wickets remaining
On Thursday, December 29, 2011 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cape-Cobras-c776 after restricting Warriors to a tally of 211 in the second innings, made 20 runs at stumps without the loss of any wicket at Boland Park, Paarl.
Cape Cobras, after hammering 213 runs at stumps on the second day, resumed their first innings on the third day in a bid to post a daunting total in response to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861’ first innings tally of 320 runs.
With already eight wickets down, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johann-Louw-c67196 had to bat their level best for as long as possible in order to help their side amass a respectable total at the end of their first innings.
While Louw lost his wicket after playing an innings of three runs, it was the stupendous knock of 42 runs by Kleinveldt that helped the side end their innings after posting 239 runs on the board.
It was then time for Warriors to have a second go at the Cobras bowlers, however, the batsmen were not so lucky this time around, as the bowlers gave a better show and restricted the batsmen from dictating the sequence of events in the match.
With just four runs on the board, Cobras grabbed the prized wicket of Warriors opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kelly-Smuts-c1784.
However, opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bevan-Bennett-c1150 and number-three batsman JJ Smuts forged a formidable partnership as the batsmen hammered 42 runs in the second-wicket partnership to subdue their opponents.
With 46 runs on the board, Cobras struck for the second time when they grabbed the wicket of Bennett, who found his way back to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JJ-Smuts-c1701 was the third wicket to fall, when the side was on 85 runs. The batsman lost his wicket after playing an innings of 44 runs.
Later, it was the seventh-wicket partnership between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Athenkosi-Ziphozihle-Madoda-Dyili-c46606 that left the opposition in disarray as the batsmen hammered 80 runs together.
The partnership was spearheaded by Ingram, who has been in phenomenal form throughout the ongoing season.
The batsman smashed an unbeaten innings of 92 runs as Warriors ended their second innings by posting 211 runs.
Needing 293 runs to win, Cobras look in a strong position as they have not lost a wicket yet and have a day to reach the required target.
