In the SuperSport Series four-day match between Titans and Lions, the Titans lead by 110 runs with two wickets in hand at stumps on the third day of the game at Willowmoore Park, Benoni on Thursday, December 29, 2011.
The day resumed with Lions coming out to continue their first innings in a bid to add more runs to their overnight tally of 248 runs for the loss four wickets.
With opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Cook-c2571, still on the crease, Lions were in a position to bat their way to domination as the batsmen had exhibited splendid form on the second day and with Cook continuing his form, it was likely for the side to end up posting a resilient total on the board at the end of their first innings.
However, his batting partner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Temba-Bavuma-c92965 lost his wicket quickly after scoring a meagre innings of 15 runs. At the time of this wicket, Lions had amassed 266 runs on the board.
Cook was then joined by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Burger-c89654 as the batsmen launched another batting onslaught against a flamboyant bowling attack.
While Cook exhibited great resolve against Titans, Burger fell after scoring 16 runs off the bat; however, the opener was joined by wicketkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thami-Tsolekile-c2662, who also seemed in good form.
With 296 runs on the board, it was time for Cook to take a walk back to the pavilion as he lost his wicket after playing a stupendous innings of 109 runs off 265 deliveries.
Tsolekile, on the other hand, batted superbly as he smashed the bowlers all around the park and helped his side amass 407 runs by staying unbeaten on 61 runs.
Coming out to bat in their second innings, Titans aimed to post a massive tally against their rivals.
Openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tumelo-Mphunzi-Bodibe-c94470 gave their side an opening stand of 77 runs, however, after the demise of the two openers; the side suffered a batting collapse in the middle as Titans ended the day by posting 163 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
Lions spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eddie-Leie-c55031, wrecked havoc on the batsmen as he grabbed five wickets in the second innings.
