Warriors 295 & 142/2 (37.0 ov) v Dolphins 223 - Warriors lead by 214 runs with 8 wickets remaining
On the second day of the ongoing match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 and Dolphins in the SuperSport Series in South Africa, Warriors lead by 214 runs with 8 wickets remaining at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth on Friday, December 16, 2011.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khayelihle-Zondo-c1790, who failed to add a run to his overnight tally of eight runs.
In the same over, middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Devon-Conway-c53929, also walked back to the pavilion without scoring a run.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/F-de-Wet-c1425, handled the situation quite well by neutralizing the bowlers, who came, ramming deliveries right at him.
With just 76 runs on the board, skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daryn-Smit-c52539, also perished as he was removed in the 30th over after scoring only seven runs.
Left-hand batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Lawson-Miller-c53037, then came out to provide Wet a much needed support in the middle.
The two batsmen tried to see off the bowlers in a bid to avoid the fall of another wicket, but the bowlers were adamant and struck again in the 50th over by dismissing Miller, who lost his wicket after hammering 39 runs off 55 deliveries.
The demise of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Miller-c76318, put enormous pressure on Wet once again, as not only did he need to retain his wicket but also had to take risks to score runs off the bowlers.
With 161 runs on the board, Dolphins were six wickets down and in deep trouble. Their situation required some miraculous performance from the remaining batting line-up which was not only weak but also incapable of tackling the bowling attack that was unleashed upon them by Warriors.
In the end, Dolphins could muster only 223 runs with Wet losing his wicket after amassing 73 runs on the board.
Coming out to bat, Warriors needed to bat their way to domination against the Dolphins and retain wickets in order to take a leading role in the match.
They clobbered 142 runs at stumps on the second day, after losing only two wickets with phenomenal batsmen JT Smuts unbeaten on 49 and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arno-Jacobs-c45463 on eight runs.
