South Africa have pulled out of Champions Trophy. They request ICC to reschedule it.

What is your opinion, should it be rescheduled or should it take place at all? Will any of these happens as PCB & BCCI are not going to budge, and will possibly pull out of Champions Trophy, if the tournament is shifted from Pakistan?

1. Imagining that you are Haroon Lorgat or David Morgan, what will be your decision and the reasoning behind it?

2. If you are a player from South Africa or Australia, will you prefer to play in Pakistan? What will be your mindset be? Will playing there affect your performance on field?

3. If you are someone from PCB, Can you convince those who are not willing to tour and on what grounds can you ask players to come to Pakistan? What kind of security can you arrange for the tourists? Honestly, do you believe, all is well in Pakistan?

Put yourselves in those big shoes, and tell me what they will be thinking about the whole situation. And also tell me, as a realistic cricket follower, you still want the tournament to go ahead, with substandard teams or minnows? Or if it goes ahead, you still glue to the telly and follow the tournament?

  1. I thought if they all don't want to play, then there's really no point in a "champion's trophy"! And no one's to be blamed here because its a sensitive issue, whatever maybe the circumstances in Pakistan but if the countries(which are steppng out) are not convinced then they won't be in the right frame of mind if ICC makes them to play.

Talked about this alot in last few days here on Y/A. All I can say is this whole situation is unfortunate & now I just would like to see a shift of venue with Pakistan getting compensation & assured of hosting a future big tournament. Thats all!

  2. Just now the scene in Pakistan is very critical. With Pervez Musharraf's resignation and impending impeachment, it is not a stable situation.

I seem to agree with those who do not want to take any responsibility of taking risks. ICC should retract and call it off. Seen Haroon talking about this to the media yesterday. Think he is in a fix himself.

  3. Answers: I am Pakistani

1: I think I shouldn't have asked any of the teams to visit Pakistan. Because truly there are lot of risks involved and you cant say security can be made possible.

2: As My 1st answers clearly indicates, I wouldn't have made my mind for touring Pakistan.

3: No due to current situations, I wouldn't have even tried to convince.

I was asking these sort of questions a year before, but now I also believe current situations are not suitable for other teams to visit Pakistan. If anything happens to them it should be shameful for us.
