On Saturday, the girls from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in the second encounter of the tournament by eight wickets, at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.
After winning the toss, the hosts chose to bat first in a bid to amass a massive total in the 20/20 game.
However, this was just not their day as only http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marizanne-Kapp-c74483 managed to score in double figures, while the rest of the squad looked least prepared to face the England Academy Women.
Ace batswoman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Trisha-Chetty-c94414, was the first wicket to fall in the day at a time when her side had posted only two runs on the board. Chetty fell without scoring a run on the third delivery of the day, which not only shocked the South Africans, but also put enormous pressure on the remaining players since Chetty has been an extremely reliable batswoman for her side in recent months.
Hodgkinson was then joined by 18-year-old, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dane-van-Niekerk-c52216, as the duo tried to forge a partnership that would enable them to post a huge total on the board.
However, just when the two were looking well set, the partnership came to an end with 41 runs on the board as Niekerk fell on nine runs off 11 deliveries.
Skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mignon-du-Preez-c76274, failed to impress anyone as she fell without scoring a run. This triggered a batting collapse from which South Africa failed to recover as they kept losing wickets, consequently ending up with 114 runs on the board.
Hodgkinson, was the highest scorer from the Proteas with a tally of 66 runs to her name.
From England Academy Women, Jodie Dibble, Natalie Sciver and Alice MacLeod all shared two wickets each to leave the batting side in ruins.
Needing just 115 runs off 20 overs, England made haste as their batswomen launched a fiery batting onslaught, reaching the target in 16.4 overs for the loss of just two wickets.
