South Africa and India evenly poised after day three in Durban
South Africa requires another 192 runs for victory to clinch the three-match series, whereas the Indians are seven wickets short of their first win in the series.
Day three was dominated by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772, as he guided the Indian team to a decent lead of a 302 runs. He was unlucky though as he missed out on his 17th century in Test cricket.
The day started positively for South Africa, as the overnight batsman Cheteshwar Pujara was dismissed without adding to his score of ten. After that Indian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 joined Laxman, and the pair put together a 48 run partnership. Dhoni edged one to
Mark Boucher after reaching 21 runs, and he was joined by Harbhajan Singh soon after, who was dismissed for four. India looked in trouble at that stage but Zaheer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 and Laxman compiled a 70-run partnership to rescue India. Khan was dismissed soon after
the lunch break after adding 27 valuable runs to the total. India lost their final three wickets for just 10 runs, and Laxman was caught behind on 96. He was the last Indian wicket to fall. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722 and Lonwabo Tsotsobe took three wickets each for South
Africa. While http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-c52110 Steyn picked up two wickets.
Chasing a target of 303, South Africa started positively and Graeme Smith attacked the Indian bowlers. The opening stand was worth 63 runs before Smith top edged the ball and was caught by Dhoni. He scored 37 quick runs. From 63 for no loss, South Africa
slipped to 82 for three. Alviro Petersen and Hashim Amla both got out with the total at 82, leaving South Africa in trouble. After these quick wickets, Jacques Kallis and AB Devilliers came together at the crease. Both Devilliers and Kallis saw the day through
and remained unbeaten. When play was called off due to bad light, Kallis and Devilliers were not out on 12 and 17 respectively.
Sreesanth picked up two wickets for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 to reach 111 in 27 overs.
The match is evenly poised at this stage, and both teams would fancy their chances of a win. The game is certain to produce a result as there are still two days of play still remaining. South Africa will be relying on Kallis to guide the team to victory,
while the Indian team will be looking to Harbhajan to bowl out the South African team.
