After a triumphant home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, Cricket South Africa on Wednesday announced three different teams for the Test, One Day International and T20 matches for next month’s away series in New Zealand.
The 27-year-old middle order batsman from Cape Province, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AG-Prince-c949. Marchant de Lange, who made a stunning Test debut against Sri Lanka last month, claiming seven wickets
on debut, has also been picked for his first tour. De Lange is also part of the T20 squad, but misses out on the ODI team.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, has also been called back for the One-Day leg of the tour.
"We have decided to try out some exciting new options in the T20 squad such as Levi, Ontong and de Lange,” said Cricket South Africa's selection convener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Charles-Hudson-c44308.
The convener singled out Ontong for his impressive performances in the domestic circuit this season and said that the all-rounder fully deserved the call-up after waiting on the sidelines for three years.
"Ontong fully deserves this latest call-up," said Hudson. "He has shown outstanding domestic form this season and I believe he has developed into a more mature cricketer… a fine batsman who will strengthen our fielding disciplines
and also give us another bowling option,” he added further.
In the domestic One Day Cup tournament, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cape-Cobras-c776 all-rounder averaged 72 with the bat, and an impressive 76 in the first class tournament, called the SuperSport Series.
Hudson said that the 32-year-old right-handed batsman who also bowls right-arm off-spin, is the complete package and this is the reason he has been included in the ODI and T20 squads.
Another exciting addition in the Proteas’ T20 squad is the Cobras top order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HM-Amla-c1557 at the top of the order in the shortest format of the game.
Pace spearhead http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DW-Steyn-c1409 and veteran all-rounder Jacques Kallis have both been rested for the shortest format of the game.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Elgar-c1351, who were part of the ODI squad for the home series against Sri Lanka, will miss out due to their respective injuries.
