Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 on Monday announced its women squad for the home series against England, starting in Potchefstroom from October 21, 2011.
Cri-zelda Brits will captain the 15-member squad which has seen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alison-Lucille-Hodgkinson-c43649 called back for the national duty after making the sidelines for over six years.
The 34-year-old Cape Province batter had last played an ODI for South Africa in April 2005, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Women at Pretoria.
While talking to the media reporters, Hodgkinson said that she was anxiously awaiting a recall in the national side, adding that the hard work pays off in the end.
"It's great to know that hard work still pays off," said Hodgkinson while talking to Supersport. "I have trained harder than I ever have in my life to earn back my place," she added further.
The skipper agreed that England are the world’s number one women cricket team and will be favourites going into the series. However, the home skipper said that she has faith in her team and is looking forward to get the series started.
"We know that as the world's No. 1 team and they won't be holding anything back, but I have every faith in the team that the coach and the selectors chose," stated Brits while talking to the media reporters.
"We are at the best that we have ever been mentally and physically, and we look forward to getting this tour started," she added further.
Kirstie Thomson is also making a comeback after staying away from action for almost a year due to a back injury.
The South Africa Women team’s coach, Yashin Ebrahim-Hassen, reckoned the upcoming series against the English would help them evaluate their performance. The coach said that though they are looking forward to perform well against English women, but even afhttp://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472er losing to the tourists, they won’t lose heart and “will endeavour to grow as a unit."
