The South African took away the ODI series from the Indians in what happened to be one of the most interesting last matches at the Centurion. The proteas boys took hold of batting first; as they went on to make 250 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. The Indians
lost by 33 runs in a manner which brought the D/L method into play. But this time it was not unfair to indulge that system into play, nor was the result biased. In fact, for the Indians, the majestic innings from Yusuf Pathan only brought them closer to the
target. This also marked the series win for the hosts as before this match, the score line was evenly poised at 2-2. The host’s were happy on the performance that they put in to run away with the series, while the tourists could only share the grief of their
poor shot selection.
Yusuf was the only player for the visitors, who managed to unleash an assault on the South African team. His outclass century off 68 balls brought the Indians into life, but that was only to be a temporary emotion. In what was to be one of the most exciting
innings at the Centurion, Yusuf blasted eight sixes in his innings of 105 runs, which almost gave a heart attack to the South Africans. When the team was down and out on 119 for the loss of 8 wickets, it was the superb batting of Pathan that brought the crowd
alive. Not only did he take the bowling attack in a dominant way, but also managed to confuse the host’s with the strategy. The South Africans remained clueless when Pathan launched the attack.
Earlier in the day http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 got carried away, and Hashim Amla’s brilliant ton confirmed that as well.
Amla remained not out on 116, while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-van-Wyk-c2025 contributed with a half century, scoring 56 runs. As a result a large total was already on the cards for the hosts. They ended up scoring 250 runs, which proved to be a task too much for the Indians. They had
lost 8 wickets on 119 runs, until Pathan came to the rescue. Bowling remained to be the key in South Africa’s win. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722 remained to be the pick of the bowlers, bagging 4 wickets agains 52 runs, which was a relief for the captain Graeme Smith.
