South Africa beat India to win the ODI series
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lewis-c72807 method against India in the 5th ODI. A rain delay and a hurricane from Yousuf Pathan could not prevent the home team from maintaining their solid home record against India. South
Africa did go into the decider with momentum after winning the 4th ODI, while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 did not have some of their first team players. The final game was, nevertheless, a nail-biting affair, and the home team eventually won the series 3-2.
Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820 won the toss and elected to bowl first. He was expecting his bowlers to make good use of the new ball and the bouncy pitch.
Graeme Smith, the opposition captain, was still struggling to find his best form and the left hander could not get going in the all important game either. Smith was dismissed for 7 runs; he was caught by Yousuf Pathan off the bowling of Zaheer Khan. Morne
van Wyk, the new addition to the Proteas, came in next and once again showed that he has what it takes to make it at the highest level. Van Wyk and Hashim Amla formed a solid stand for the 2nd wicket. Runs were not flowing but the two right handers
were determined to build the innings by refraining from taking any risks. The partnership was broken with the score at 113, when van Wyk was caught and bowled by Yuvraj Singh for a well made 56.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JP-Duminy-c1742 continued his good form, and, following up from two solid knocks in last two games, he added 102 runs for the 4th wicket. The
game was stopped due to rain and when they got back it was reduced to 46 overs. After resumption, South Africa lost their way and there was a big collapse that saw the last 6 wickets fall for just 19 runs. Hashim Amla remained unbeaten at 116 as South Africa
ended the innings at 250, but due to Duckworth and Lewis, India were given a target of 268 runs to win in 46 overs.
India's reply was not that impressive, and Rohit Sharma could not make a point after being dropped from the World Cup squad. Sharma fell victim to Lonwabo Tsotsobe for just 5 runs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virat-Kohli-c95424, the most consistent player for India during the series, was
dismissed for just 2, as he was caught behind off the bowling of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722. Captain Dhoni decided to push himself up and lead the chase, but that did not last long, as Dhoni fell for a short pitched delivery from Morkel and was caught out for just 5. The
Indians looked tired and lethargic as the collapse continued. Yuvraj Singh was dismissed for 5, followed by a tame 11 runs by Suresh Raina. India looked out of it, but Yousuf Pathan had other plans for his team. The explosive right hander went on a rampage,
smashing 8 fours and 8 massive sixes, and went on to score 105 runs from just 70 balls. However, the fun for India ended when Yousuf was finally brought down by Morkel. India were finally dismissed for 234, and South Africa prevailed by 33 runs. Hashim Amla
was named man of the match, while Morne Morkel got the man of the series award.
