South Africa call-up McLaren as cover for Kallis and Philander – Cricket News Update

Veteran all-rounder Kallis sustained a hamstring injury in the ongoing second Test in Adelaide Oval. The Proteas pacer picked up a grade 1 hamstring strain after bowling just 3.3 overs in the hosts' first innings on Thursday, and left the field immediately. He batted as low as nine in the order in South Africa’s first innings, scoring 58 runs after spending two hours at the crease, and did not bowl in Australia’s second innings.
Though Kallis played a meticulous 46-run knock in the tourists’ second innings, sharing a 99-run stand with centurion http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Faf-du-Plessis-c1427 to take the Adelaide Test towards a draw on the fifth and final day here, he is a doubtful starter for the final Test.
Philander, meanwhile, is nursing a stiff back, and was left out of the Playing XI for the ongoing second Test. Whilst the young South African seamer is expected to recover in time for the third Test, the extent of Kallis’ injury is likely to prevent him from playing in the final Test, which gets underway at WACA, Perth on Friday, November 30.

The Cape Province all-rounder will leave for Australia on Monday evening (today), while the third Test kick starts in Perth on Friday. The three-match series is currently levelled 0-0.
