South Africa deserved to win the series, feels Brendon McCullum – Cricket News Update

won the three-match series 1-0 on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.
Speaking to the media reporters after a rain-interrupted drawn third Test at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864, McCullum said that Graeme Smith’s men have been a better side all through the series and ultimately deserved to win the series.
"I think they deserved to win the series, don't get me wrong," said the New Zealand vice-captain Brendon McCullum, speaking to the media reporters on Tuesday.
"I think they've been the better team throughout. We had them on the ropes at times but I think one-nil (in the Test) is probably a fair reflection from looking at it," he added further.
The Proteas had come into the three-Test series against Kiwis with an aim of dethroning http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 as the World’s No. 1 Test side by winning the series 3-0 and kick started the series at Dunedin in an aggressive way. The tourists were well in command
in the series opener before rain washed out the final day of Dunedin Test, as the match ended in a tame draw.
Smith’s brigade came back more aggressively in the second Test winning the match convincingly by nine wickets margin. In the third Test rain once again played spoilsport as the match ended in a draw, to give the visitors 1-0 series win.

"You don't get too many bad balls against the best bowlers in the world," said McCullum while analyzing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s batting. "There was never a let-up in that bowling attack and they continued to come at you and never made it easy,” he added further.
Emerging pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vernon-Philander-c2753 was the pick of Proteas’ bowlers, as he returned at the top of the series wickets chart with 21 scalps in three matches at an average of 15.47.
