South Africa dominate Zimbabwe
Merciless South Africa completed the whitewash as they trounced the depleted Zimbabwe by a margin of 272 runs in the 3rd One-day international at Benoni to seal the series 3-0.
As usual, Proteas after winning the toss elected to bat first as they took complete advantage of yet another batting friendly wicket. As a result, they hammered a mammoth 399 runs for 6 wickets and put the visitors under pressure from the start. In doing
so, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 cracked up brilliant centuries as they set up a record partnership of 219 runs for the third wicket.
Zimbabwe bowlers went all around the park as there was no substantial performance for them, with the ball. The pick of the bowler was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamilton-Masakadza-c61354, who only bowled an over for four run,
every other bowler conceded over 6 runs per over.
The hosts in the start of their innings went ballistic as they scored 53 runs in their first five overs. Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla looked really good as if they will score big ones, but their relentless attack brought about their demise as both of them
fell in successive overs to the opening bowlers, Shingirai Masakadza and Ian Nicolson.
A hurricane was sensed when Duminy and Devilliers came to smash the white cherry to all parts of the ground. Both the batsmen carried the momentum as they went onto register a record stand. In doing this, the top ranked batsman scored 109 off 99 balls as
he smashed 5 boundaries and five sixes, and went to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/H-Masakadza-c1517.
Albie Morkel joined the attack with Duminy as the pair added 50 runs for the fourth wicket. JP went on to score 129 runs of just 117 balls, including seven boundaries and 4 towering sixes. The left handed centurion, in order to hit Nicholson out of the park,
did throw his wicket as he top-edged it straight to the hands of mid-off.
Morkel and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Miller-c53105 added 27 to take the South African total to 355, but Albie departed on the score of 37 runs off 21 balls. David Miller remained unbeaten on 33 runs off just 19 balls. Colin Ingram’s brisk innings of 20 runs of 8 balls, helped the
final target to 400 runs, and he was the last one to go, providing Chigumbura his first wicket of the match.
Shingirai, the highest wicket taker for Zimbabwe in the contest with two wickets, was willowed all around the corner for 95 runs.
It was always going to be difficult to chase 400, especially when you are up against a quality and professional side like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. In pursuit, the visitors felt the heat of the huge total.
The openers, Brendon http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 and Hamilton Masakadza only managed to score 5 runs each. Lonwabo Tsotsobe and Albie did strike early as the tourists slumped to 18/2 in 4.2 overs. In addition, Morkel dismissed Chibhabha to gather his 2nd wicket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johan-Botha-c67173 missed the 2nd ODI, but he didn’t miss his trick as he spun both the set batsmen
and went to register 2/32. Zimbabwe then further slumped to 4/77 in 15 overs.
Furthermore, the touring team lost their last 6 wickets for just 60 runs. Wayne Parnell gathered more confidence in the match from the opening burst as he scalped two more victims for 30 runs. Rusty Theron’s form has been good throughout the series and the
third affair wasn’t an exception. He took 3/18 in the match. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 further crumbled and was bowled out for 127 runs in just 29 overs.
