Peter de Villiers, the coach for South Africa’s rugby team has decided to extend a debut opportunity for the young trio of Andries Strauss, Coenie Oosthuizen and Elton Jantjies in the team’s important match against the Barbarians.
Having traditional finale autumn internationals on while not having the test status, De Villiers had brought altogether 12 changes in total to the side which had emphatically defeated England with 21-11 at last weekend.
As the misfortune has hit the team, it is going to have an important match against Barbarians without having Jean de Villiers, Jannie du Plessis, Victor Matfield, Bismarck du Plessis and Zane Kirchner into the team amid suffering from injuries. Moreover,
athletes like Ruan Pienaar and Frans Steyn have also gone back to join their clubs for the match does not lie into the designated International Rugby Board Window.
Besides Strauss, Oosthuizen and Jantjies, the other potential debut star constitute Patrick Lambie to play at full back, Adi Jacobs, Odwa Ndungane, Willem Alberts, Adriaan Strauss, Alistair Hargreaves and CJ van der Linde. There can be another possible addition
to the squad as Charl McLeod can also mark the debut from the bench. The team will enter the field in captaincy of Juan Smith.
Talking about this entirely new composition of the team South Africa, the team coach De Villiers said: “The new comers have been waiting for their chance and will bring energy and enthusiasm to the line-up at the end of a long season. They have trained well
and been patient throughout the tour and this is their chance to show what they can do.”
The match against the Barbarians can be tough for South Africa as the opponents have put together an exciting team which has been trained to play the sport in traditional Barbarian way. The opponents’ team coach Nick Mallett will surely be aware of the changes
being implemented into the team SA, and there is no denying the fact that he will be focusing upon countering the “newly put together” team of traditional rivals.
Despite of having an inexperienced and new team, Juan Smith is determined to keep the morale of his boys high and to bring constant improvements which keep the contest thrilling and fascinating.
