The first Test between the two sides at WACA, Perth was a drawn affair, while Ricky Ponting’s men won the second and third Test by 184 runs and eight wickets to clinch the series 2-0. It may be noted here that this was Graeme Smith’s first Test tour down under as Proteas skipper.
2008-09 – South Africa won the series 2-1
The Proteas finally managed to break the jinx of being winless on Australian soil in their ninth attempt, winning the three-match contest 2-1.
