The UAE tour saw http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 team winning the T20 and one-day series against Pakistan before the two-match Test series against the same opposition was drawn. The triumphant side reached home early on Thursday where they were congratulated
by Cricket South Africa chief executive Gerald Majola for a “successful” Emirates tour.
Majola said Cricket South Africa is looking forward to “the enormously exciting” home series against India.
The formidable South Africa side will now host Dhoni & Co. in a three-match Test series which gets underway at Centurion from16
December. The regular Test captain of South Africa, Graeme Smith’s availability for the series against India is doubtful after he picked up a finger fracture during the recently concluded series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
Smith picked up the injury during the first one-day against Pakistan when Shoaib Akhtar’s bouncer hit his hand and he missed the next two ODIs. The injury got aggravated during the Abu Dhabi Test this week.
According to the South Africa team manager Mohammad Moosajee, the team doctor has advised Smith a rest of six weeks but the history of Smith’s hand injuries make his recovery doubtful.
In the last 2 years or so, the South African captain has fractured his hand at four different occasions. The South Africa team manager further added that Smith faced a "race against time" to be fit.
“It will be a race against time to get him fit for the test series against
India,” said Moosajee. “Knowing our experiences with Graeme in the past we have said he would need a six-week layoff and he was ready in four and other times we said three weeks and it took him longer,” Moosajee added.
The Proteas stand a spot behind India on the ICC Test team rankings while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 is ranked No. 3. Both the teams are scheduled to play five One Day Internationals and two T20 games as well.
