South Africa makes four changes to squad for upcoming match against All Blacks - Rugby News
South Africa has made four changes to their starting line-up for the upcoming Tri-Nations’ clash against the All Blacks. The World Number 3 Springboks will meet the top ranked side of the world, New Zealand, on July 30 in Wellington. The South African coach,
Peter de Villiers, has made four changes in his side following a few more injuries and an insulting defeat by the Wallabies in the opening match of the event. Peter de Villiers revealed his 22 member squad on July 28.
The South African side lost their inaugural match of the Tri Nation against Australia by a large difference of 39-20 along with two more causalities to its injury struck side. South Africa has included Patrick Lambie, Gerhard Mostert and Jean Deysel in their
team whereas Danie Rossouw will be put in at the number eight position in the absence of Ashley Johnson.
Patrick Lambie and Gerhard Mostert are making their test debut for Springboks as the seats have been vacant by injured Gio Aplon and Van der Merwe. Patrick Lambie will start his International career as a fullback whereas Gerhard Mostert will be given the
role of lock for this particular match.
Making the announcement of his team, Boks Coach De Villiers hoped that his young side will play up to the mark against the All Blacks. He further said that, “We have had a few injury challenges on this tour and last week was not a good start, but we have
learnt from last week's match.”
He also said that, “There have been some frank exchanges this week and the players know what is expected from them and that this is their opportunity.”
The Springboks will enter the field with following altered side:
South Africa: 15 Pat Lambie, 14 Bjorn Basson, 13 Adi Jacobs, 12 Juan de Jongh, 11 Lwazi Mvovo, 10 Morne Steyn, 9 Ruan Pienaar, 8 Danie Rossouw, 7 Jean Deysel, 6 Deon Stegmann, 5 Alistair Hargreaves, 4 Gerhard Mostert, 3 Werner Kruger, 2
