The South Africans continued to pile on the runs against the helpless India on day three of the Centurion Test, the first of the three match series being billed as the battle for the best team in the world.
Resuming at a virtually impregnable position of 366/2 after shooting out the tourists for 136 runs, the hosts continued to build their lead.
The 200 runs lead was soon turned into an even bigger advantage as the overnight pair of Jacques Kallis and Hashim Amla started the day aggressively.
Amla who was in an attacking frame of mind, finally paid for it by falling for 140 runs, as he was snapped behind the stumps by Indian wicket-keeper and skipper Mahindra Singh Dhoni.
He struck 14 fours and 1 six in his innings that came off 202 balls, his dismissal brought to an end a partnership of 230 runs for the third wicket.
The South Africans were having a real party in the morning session as they scored at nearly 6 runs per over as the Indian bowlers wilted away and looked no more than a club bowling attack that was under the hammer.
After the demise of Amla AB DeVilliers who had scored an unbeaten double century in the last Test innings he played in the UAE against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 carried on his imperious touch.
The right hander treated the bowling with utter disdain at times whipping the ball from outside the off-stump through the mid-wicket region.
DeVilliers posted his quickest Test half century off only 42 balls, he is looking set for another big one on a wicket which has turned into a batting beauty.
The right hander then went on the offensive from there and posted a remarkable century off only 75 balls, striking as many as 5 sixes in his belligerent knock that almost reduced the Indian fans to tears!
On the other hand the classy Kallis continued from where he had left off on day two. The all-rounder was aiming for another big one with his resolute stance that was aimed at deepening the Indian wounds.
The teams went for lunch with the hosts adding 225 runs in 36 overs at more than 6 runs per over.
Dhoni was exasperated as his bowlers struggled to keep check on the rampaging South Africans who had an overall innings run rate of nearly 4.7 runs per over.
