Key South African players http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamisi-Abdallah-c61368 have been rested for the team’s third tour match, scheduled to be played against Worcestershire at the County Ground at New Road in Worcester, from July 27 to 28.
South Africa played two tour matches prior to the start of their 3-match Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canterbury-c775.
The two warm-up matches were followed by the Proteas’ first Test against England, which culminated in South Africa winnings by an innings and 12 runs. England managed to post a solid total of 385 during their first innings, but the Proteas posted a mammoth
637 in response (at the expense of 2 wickets), owing to superb performances by skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HM-Amla-c1557 (whose 311 became the first 300+ Test score by a South African batsman).
Despite the fact that their innings propelled them to victory, it also did not grant the middle-order a chance to bat. For this reason, the more prolific cricketers have been rested, in order to give a chance to fringe players.
The South Africans have won the toss, and will be opening their innings with Jacques Rudolph (with skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705 in the first Test.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DW-Steyn-c1409, Vernon Philander, Morne Morkel and Imran
Tahir (all of whom played in the first Test), Albie Morkel, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Peterson-c2332 and Lonwabo Tsotsobe will also be forming part of the bowling attack.
