South Africa thrashes Netherlands as Imran Tahir takes 3/19 in ICC World Cup 2011
Hashim Amla and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 scored brilliant centuries for South Africa as their team crushed Netherlands by 231 runs.
The South Africans made the most of their allotted 50 overs by pilling up a massive total of 351/7, after they were put into bat by the Dutch team. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753 faltered in their chase and were bundled out for a meagre total of 120 in less than 35 overs.
The Netherlands batsmen had very few answers to the Proteas bowling attack as wickets kept falling and they could not form even a single formidable partnership.
The openers, Alexei Kervezee, and, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 their first break through.
Tom http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cooper-c51561 was the next man in and though he had shown his ability to negotiate fast bowling well in the previous match, he could not repeat his antics and was dismissed cheaply.
Barresi was playing well to hold his end as the Dutch middle order folded under pressure at the other end. Their most experienced batsman, Ryan ten Doeschate, also could not rise to the occasion and got out without making a significant contribution. The
lower middle order followed suit and did not trouble the scorers much.
The chase never looked on as the South African bowlers did not allow the batsmen to settle. The fast bowlers made early inroads into the Dutch batting from which they were not able to recover.
The middle order and the tail were cleaned up by the slower bowlers, Robin Paterson, and, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 Tahir.
Tahir, who took four wickets in on his debut in the last match was again very impressive and was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/19 in 6.5 overs. Paterson and Kallis took two wickets each.
Netherlands have now lost three matches in a row and now only a miracle can see them through to the second round.
The result of the match takes South Africa to the top of the table in Group B with four points from two games and they are now almost certain to make the Quarterfinals.
