South Africa torment India as they build a gargantuan lead
If the visitors thought that they had hit rock bottom on the first day of the Test, they were sadly mistaken for the South Africans willowed ball after ball unrelenting in their onslaught, to the boundary. Thus continued the free fall for the Indian’s who
were completely outplayed by the Proteas. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 managed to extend their lead by 225 runs in only 36 overs as AB de Villiers completely pulverised the Indian feather-weight bowling attack. Graeme Smith can very easily declare now that they have a massive
lead of 455 runs. However the only thing that is probably stopping the captain from doing so would be Jacques Kallis’s imminent double century.
A feat that the South African has not yet achieved in 142 Tests. India’s bowling was far from ordinary and the pitch could not have been blamed for the poor bowling as the Proteas bowled the outclass Indian batting attack out for a measly 136 runs. Indian
bowlers were unable to make a breakthrough as their morale took a steady beating. India have been playing on their home ground for the last several months and the fact that they have not played outside of India in a while could be a factor. However as I had
mentioned earlier in the preview before the Test started, India’s bowling attack was the weak-link and they needed to wrap their bowlers in wool to protect them.
The absence of Zaheer Khan was thoroughly felt as the depleted bowling attack of the visitors could not do much against the torturous onslaught of runs by the formidable proteas. Graeme Smith and Petersen made an excellent start which was further built upon
by a double century partnership by the perpetual run machine Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis both of whom scored brilliant tons. After the departure of Hashim Amla, it was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 who scored in absolutely tremendous fashion to score the fastest test
century for a South African. De Villiers scored his first fifty in only 42 deliveries and took 34 balls to score the second. In effect he became the first South African to score a century in only 76 deliveries. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 can most certainly hope that the weather
forecast for Sunday helps their case, since there seems no way out of this quagmire but an imminent defeat.
