The specialist recommended an immediate operation, as he did not want the cricketer to risk further injury. Smith took the advice and went forward with the operation; the left-hander had to abandon IPL5 and is still rehabilitating.
Smith, who has scored 8042 runs for the Proteas in Test matches at an astonishing average of 49.64, will accomplish another feat during the tour of England, which comprises of three Tests, five ODI’s and three Twenty20’s.
