South Africa keeps on gaining momentum on their tour of New Zealand. After winning the ODI and T20 series, the tourists have gone up by one game in the three match Test series. The Proteas won the second Test match of the series
played at Seddon Park, Hamilton, by nine wickets.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vernon-Philander-c2753, the 26-year-old pacer's dream run with the ball continues. The speedster, who has had a fairytale start to his Test career, decapitated New Zealand’s batting by notching 10 wickets in the match. The six wickets
that he took in second innings was his fifth five wicket haul in just six games.
Philander was bestowed with the Man of the Match award for his efforts. The 26-year-old was happy with the way things are unfolding at the moment. He said, “There was a bit of reverse swing for me and the ball was nipping around.
I thought I could try and make it difficult for the batsmen to score and get a few wickets.”
New Zealand skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849, was not at all impressed with the way his batsmen played against a top side. The Kiwi skipper, however, saluted the Proteas bowlers who bowled in the right channels and exploited the conditions
to their max.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. The way Philander bowled it put pressure on the batsmen. It was a flat wicket, they put the ball in the right areas and put the pressure on us. We did alright with the ball
but just couldn't finish it off. The pitch just had something in it and it had a little bit of swing for the bowlers.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, in both of their innings, failed to cross the 200-run mark. This is indeed a worrying factor for the Kiwis, but Taylor was positive that the Black Caps will be better prepared for the next clash.
The next match between New Zealand and South Africa will start from Friday, March 23, and will be played at the Basin Reserve, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864. The Kiwis simply need to win in order to level the series; however a draw will be enough
for the Proteas to clinch the series.
