South Africa tuning into http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 style of captaincy – Cricket News Update
South Africa’s ODI skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 de Villiers, is pleased with how things are turning out for the Proteas under his leadership. The flamboyant cricketer believes that the South African team is tuning well into his style of captaincy, which according to him
is different from that of his predecessor and Test skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GC-Smith-c1473.
Hoping that South Africa continues on the same path, he said, “I like to think that I have my own style of captaincy that's a bit different to Biff's [Smith's]. I still believe he is an unbelievable captain, but hopefully my style is taking off a bit and
the team is getting used to how I do things.”
De Villiers led the Proteas to a 3-0 whitewash over New Zealand in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 has won six matches out of the eight games they have played under his stewardship.
South Africa is one of those sides that have a different Test, Twenty20 and ODI team. The Proteas Test team has cricketers with immense experience; on the other hand, the ODI roster comprises of players who are still making a mark at the international level.
But despite the inexperience, De Villiers thinks that South Africa’s ODI team is as good as the one that plays in the longest version.
He said, “I wouldn't say our best format is Tests. Our limited-overs side is less experienced but it's got good energy and is improving quickly. The Test side is a settled side with street-smart cricketers. Both sides are strong in different areas but both
try to play a similar brand and quality of cricket.”
The Proteas are placed second in both ODI’s and Tests. However, they have a great chance to become the number one Test side. South Africa (117) trail http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 (118), currently ranked as the number one in Test side, and that only by a single point. If South
Africa beats http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 3-0 in the Test series they will go one point clear of England at 119.
The Test series between New Zealand and South Africa kicks-off from Wednesday, March 7 with a game at Dunedin.
