The second day of the first Test between cricket giants South Africa and Australia was anything but ordinary at Newlands, Cape Town on Thursday, November 10, 2011 as cricket fans got to see exuberant cricket from both sides with the game now well set for a result on its third day.
After Australia had ended the first day of the match by posting 214 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets, no one expecting the Aussies to be back on the crease for their second innings on the same day, however, first by some awesome bowling, the Australians annihilated the South African batting line-up which could only muster 96 runs, followed by an Australia batting collapse on 47 runs.
The day started with Australia aiming to score enough runs on the second day to give the hosts South Africa a run for their money.

Later, South Africa suffered a batting collapse by the hands of the Australian bowlers as the 14th over proved devastating for the hosts, where they lost the services of ace batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692 who found their way back to the pavilion after scoring 3 and 0 runs.
The 16th over then saw the departure of skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739 pulverised the South African middle-order batting line-up.
The Proteas could only bolster 96 runs in response to the Australian tally as they were not given any chance by the visitors to dictate terms during any period in the game.

Having dismantled the South Africans on a meagre total, the Australians were happy to get a second chance to bat, however, the South Africans bounced back in the game by wrecking havoc on the Australians who were taken aback by the sudden bowling onslaught from the Proteas who gave an extremely commendable performance with the bowl as they incinerated the Australian batting line-up, allowing the visitors to post only 47 runs on the board.
The ironic part of this innings was the fact that nine Australian batsmen found their way back to the pavilion without reaching double figures.

Needing 236 runs to win, the South Africans look in a comfortable position to win their first Test of the series against their arch nemesis, and with three days of play left there is a bright chance for the match to end with a result.
