South Africa v Australia: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftikhar-Ali-Khan-Pataudi-Nawab-of-c64075 Cummins receives praise from all ends - Cricket News Update
Pat Cummins, the 18-year-old pacer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, is receiving praise from all ends after the young cricketer took three wickets in his first international T20 match, played at Cape Town on Thursday, October
13, 2011, against a strong South African batting line-up.
Cameron White, skipper of Australia’s Twenty20 team, has termed Cummins' spell as the major factor in his side's five wicket win over the Proteas.
Cummins on his debut match, ripped through http://www.senore.com/Cricket/J-Botha-c1610, restricting the Proteas to a modest total of 146 runs.
Commending the performance exhibited by the youngster, White said, “It was the difference between chasing 160 and what we did chase [147]. It doesn't seem like much but when the game is getting close those
few runs make a difference.”
White asserted that Cummins, who is in a fledgling phase of his career, has immense talent and the speedster will serve Australian cricket for a long time, considering he remains fit.
The Player of the Match in Thursday's game, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558, seems to accord with White on the subject. The 30-year-old cricketer considers the newbie a rare talent and has advised him not to let the victory
distract him.
“There's no way he will let it get to his head. Deep down he knows that it's a really special gift that he's got, to bowl that fast at such a young age,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326.
Cummins is the second youngest debutant introduced by Australia. The right-arm pacer represents http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 (NSW), the same club for which Watson plays.
The 18-year-old was the pick of the bowlers for NSW in the recently concluded CLT20 tournament. Cummins picked seven wickets from five matches at an average of 19.42. Though, his economy rate, 7.15, was
a bit on the higher side.
Cummins wasn’t the only player playing his first T20 game for the Australians. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933 were also taking the stage for the first time.
Pattinson, the right-arm medium pacer, was not as impressive as his fellow debutant. Wade, on the other hand, was safe as a house behind the stumps.
